Somewhere between Tapachula and Mexico City, a migrant opens TikTok to find out how to apply for asylum in Mexico. What they find is an account that mimics Telemundo's colors and typography, offering a process that is actually free for $750. There's no need to invent dystopian scenarios: fraud already operates on a large scale, with branding, design, and distribution strategies. However, despite this extremely complex situation, there are already organizations—many of them founded by migrants themselves—that are developing, producing, and circulating accurate information.
