IS IT OR IS IT NOT INTEGRATION?
RESEARCH ON HOW WE VISUALIZE MIGRANT COMMUNITIES IN HOST COUNTRIES
Together with the Xenophobia Barometer , we conducted a study on the different narratives surrounding migrants in digital public spaces. We focused on something that is often overlooked: positive narratives surrounding migrants in Chile and Argentina.
Everything on the internet that's public can be captured. The Barometer and the Interpreta Foundation have access to more than 120 million web pages, forums, news outlets, and 100% of Twitter. We can say that perhaps what happens on Twitter isn't representative of the total population. However, academic studies indicate that 40% of a day's trending topics become news headlines in traditional media the next day, reaching people who don't have Twitter and who may not even have internet access. And this is why it's so relevant in our studies.
