HOW CAN PUBLIC POLICY, MIGRATION, AND SOCIAL INNOVATION INTERSECT TO GENERATE SOLUTIONS FOR THE COMMON GOOD?
We need social innovation that transforms systems and leverages the unique contributions of migrants. To achieve this, we need to develop bold migration policies to address the challenges posed by a growing human mobilization, amidst a context of major global challenges.
We understand that there are urgent challenges that need to be addressed through both public policy and civil society. Migration today is a global issue; mobilization processes for political, economic, or climate-related reasons are constantly multiplying and changing direction. In response, social innovation in the public sector can provide methodologies and experiences that are capable of diagnosing, proposing solutions, and scaling up.
The possibilities for collaboration and the demands posed by these types of phenomena require interaction between civil society and public policy. Drawing on success stories from both sides and promoting projects that positively impact the environment provide a solution to the challenges posed by migration, which must be properly addressed by the various actors within the ecosystem.
Context of the Good Practices Guide by Hola América
From Hola América, within the framework of the ecosystem that has been built and woven for some time, public policy roundtables were established in Chile and Argentina. The countries were selected because they have formed the basis for the operations and execution of the various programs.
These discussion spaces focused on topics related to gender, labor, discrimination, regularization, and education, viewed through the lens of migration, drawing on the experience of various organizations and institutions that have worked for years on migration issues, working with methodology, support, and the implementation of intervention programs on the ground.
